‘A Bit Like Sonny Bill’: Brent Read’s Fear For Roosters Fans After Suaalii’s Recommitment

Leading NRL journalist Brent Read says he fears Joseph Suaalii’s recommitment to the Roosters won’t be smooth sailing in the long term, with the young star likely to find his name in contract talks again next season.

LISTEN HERE:

Read’s comments come after News Corp revealed that the 19-year-old activated a clause in his contract to remain with the Tricolours until the end of 2024.

While it is good news for now, for Roosters and NRL fans, Read believes Rugby Australia’s interest in Suaalii will keep the contract negotiations fresh next year.

“The issue for the Roosters is going to be when we get to this situation next year and he’s got an option again in 2025… those first two months next year is when we need to keep an eye,” Read said on Triple M’s Monday scrum.
