Australia head to Lord’s next week with a 1-0 Ashes series lead after beating England by two wickets in Birmingham in a Test that’s being described as one of the best of all time.
Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon put on 55 for the 9th wicket to deliver the famous win, but Haddin says a key moment at the start of their partnership was the turning point in the match.
The win is Australia’s highest run chase since Cummins hit the winning runs on Test debut against South Africa in 2011 when the Aussies scored 8-310 at the Wanderers.
It’s also Australia’s highest successful run chase in an Ashes Test in England since Don Bradman’s ‘Invincibles’ side in 1948.
Australia now head to Lord’s for the second Test next week.
