“A Lot What I Do In Footy I Learnt From My Mum!” George Burgess On His Mother The Former Footy Star!

A member of the famous British rugby league family George Burgess joined The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell for their latest episode of Hero, Highlight & Hardship.

LISTEN HERE:

Burgess’ father also played rugby league but George didn’t get to see him play, he got to see his mother Julie play!

And he credits his skillset that saw him earn premiership success to his Mum.

“A lot of what I do in footy I learnt from my Mum,” said Burgess.

“She’s got a long striding lock, she chopped them in half and had a big fend on her as well!”

Though it was one moment of inspiration that stuck with George for life.

“I remember as a six year old kid watching my Mum break her nose.

“She had blood dripping down her nose, she carried on playing.

“As a 15 year old the same thing happened to me, so I said, I’m going to do what my Mum did!”
