Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting has told the Rush Hour with JB & Billy that he sees “something special” in precociously talented batting tyro Jake Fraser-McGurk.
“He’s been known as a really talented young player for three or four years now, maybe even longer than that,” Ponting said about Fraser-McGurk, who has been added to the Australian ODI squad.
“This year it seems the penny’s really dropped with him, a change of states from Victoria to South Australia.”

Punter said Fraser-McGurk’s domestic white ball form has been eye catching.
“He’s done some pretty crazy things in domestic cricket, and then we saw what he’s able to do when he takes the handbrake off and lets the leash off in BBL cricket,” he said.
“This year he was the most exciting player in the tournament, and when you’ve got guys like [Glenn] Maxwell and [Marcus] Stoinis and Tim David and these sort of guys, it means I see something pretty special in him.”
Ponting also discussed the upcoming Big Bash finals, Steve Smith opening the batting, Cam Green’s future, his own special comments and more.
