Melbourne United star Chris Goulding admits it hurt to be left of the national squad for the recent Olympics in Paris, telling Triple M Breakfast it came as a shock.
“I will not lie, it was really tough and me, my family,” Goulding told Rosie, Wil and Daisy.
The veteran sharpshooter enjoyed a stellar season in the NBL, and performed strongly during Australia’s warm-up matches but was snubbed from Brian Goorjian’s 12-man squad.
“Being able to represent the green and gold is something you always want to do. I know I’m getting older, I just wanted to do it for as long as possible.”
“Immediately [the feeling was] big, big disappointment, but I look back with pride now knowing I was able to represent my country for a long period of time.”
