Following the announcement of the Victorian Government canning the 2026 Commonwealth Games due to a budget blow out, Olympian Leisel Jones has spoken out, concerned for the future of Commonwealth Games.
On Triple M’s Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam & Dobbo, Jones said she’s shocked by the announcement:

“I was completely shocked,” revealed Jones.
“Economically, we’ve very much changed in the last couple of years since we were awarded the Games. We’ve got a lot of struggle in this great state of ours.
“I worry, if we’re facing this difficulty for Brisbane 2032, then I think the Commonwealth Games cannot feasibly go ahead, economically.” said Jones.
