Ange Postecoglou Opens Up On Andrew Redmayne & The Socceroos

Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou has spoken candidly about the Socceroos historic win over Peru which booked them a place in a fifth-straight World Cup Finals.

Postecoglou, who coached the Socceroos between 2013 and 2017, says it’s an achievement that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

“Over here in Scotland, they haven’t been to a World Cup for decades, and we’ve got our fifth in a row. I just thing sometimes we take it for granted. We need to celebrate it more,” Postecoglou said when speaking with Luke Darcy on the Empowering Leaders podcast.

“That achievement of getting to a World Cup should never be dismissed.”

Postecoglou said goalkeeper Redmayne’s heroics were reminiscent of a “Hollywood ending”.

“I did coach Redders at Brisbane, and he’s had an interesting coaching story. You can’t write that script. He will now go down in the folklore of Australian sport.”
