The Saints went down to the Hawks by five points – their fifth loss by 10 points or less so far this season.
It also came with a microscope on Ross Lyon’s post-match press conference, where he was criticised for commentary surrounding his inability to get a runner out in the dying minutes.
In a full-scale review of the start to the year on Footy Talk, Riewoldt said the presser was far from St Kilda’s issue.
“I went back and I watched that press conference in its entirety. That was not an excuse-laden press conference,” Riewoldt said.
“To pull the grabs out, I think you need to listen to them in context. I’m guilty of that as well – you hear the grab without actually doing the work to go back and listen to it in its entirety.
“That’s on us as media people…”
