Melbourne captain Max Gawn has thrown support behind teammate Clayton Oliver, hopeful he returns to the club as “the best version of himself” amid an extended break.
“He’s had his challenges especially over the last couple weeks.” Gawn told Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show.
“Right now it’s in other people’s hands … hopefully we get him back soon.”
“If that is being in and around the football club, if it’s to have a bit of time away and work on himself I’m also supportive of that.”
The 26-year-old left the club on the first day of pre-season training and is taking an extended leave following a troubled off-season.
