Leigh Montagna has picked out the elements of Sydney’s game that have fallen away over the last six weeks on today’s Midweek Rub.
JOEY ON THE ELEMENTS OF SYDNEY’S GAME THAT HAVE FALLEN AWAY:
“They are absolutely still in the mix and they’ll play in a home prelim, so they’re in the box seat you’d think,” Joey said of the Swans.
“But certainly they’re not at the levels they were a month ago when they were head and shoulders above every other team.
“It’s not just the losses, it’s a bit more about the profile and the way they’re getting beaten… All the big elements of winning have just dropped away in the last six weeks.”
MORE FROM THE MIDWEEK RUB:
Daisy Thomas said that the loss could ultimately be a good thing for Sydney.
“I think the smacking’s probably a good thing for them,” Daisy said.
“The two point, two point, and one point loss you look at it and go ‘is that bad, we had our chances’.
“When you get torn apart, systematically taken down, you have to have the magnifying glass out and have a good hard look at what’s gone wrong.”
MORE ON SYDNEY:
Joey, Daisy and Damian Barrett also discussed Scott Pendlebury’s 400th game, what’s behind Brisbane’s remarkable resurgence, the Dogs’ defence and plenty more.
