“I’d Rather Go Pick Two”: Scott Pendlebury Criticises The Spotlight Placed On Pick One

Collingwood veteran Scott Pendlebury says there’s too much pressure placed on the AFL players at pick, arguing he’d “rather go pick two”.

Attention has surrounded Harley Reid, this year’s likely number one pick, as well as Jason Horne-Francis and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in previous years.

Others such as Jack Watts and Tom Boyd have also notably come under the microscope.

The argument gained legs after suggestions North Melbourne should have lost to Gold Coast to hold onto pick one, instead of winning and moving to pick two.

“It’s extraordinary,” he explained on the Jock and Journo podcast with the Herald Sun’s Jay Clark.

“It’s like there’s only him (pick one) in the draft and he’s put on this pedestal, and then pick number two is almost like pick 70.”
