The BBC also questioned former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s ability to ‘have it all, in light of her decision to resign from the role.
What does it mean to “have it all”? Why is this phrase often used to describe successful women?
On today’s Briefing, Antoinette Lattouf speaks to Annabel Crabb, senior political writer for the ABC and television host, to discuss the definition of women “having it all” and the struggles modern women encounter balancing work and family.
Crabb said the definition of women who “have it all” has changed over time.
The uproar when people write articles saying ‘see, women can’t have it all’ is different from what it was ten years ago. People go berserk when they read that,”
Crabb said.
If there are two parents, both being super involved in a child’s life, the benefits to that kid and the dad are lifelong. So we’re not just talking here about women, you know, getting a hand at home. We are talking about improving the lives of humans for generations.”
