Sophie Pearce Has Battled Hyperemesis Gravidarum 3 Times

The popular podcaster from Beyond The Bump talks about the debilitating illness she suffered through each of her three pregnancies in an episode of Dr Golly and The Experts.

What hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) really looks like

Both Sophie Pearce and her co-host Jayde Couldwell had hyperemesis gravidarum during their pregnancies. For Pearce the experience was particularly debilitating.

HG is a severe and potentially life-threatening form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that affects about 1-3% of pregnant women. It’s characterised by excessive vomiting, dehydration, and weight loss, and can result in nutritional deficiencies, electrolyte imbalances, and other serious health complications for both the mother and the developing fetus.

Both Pearce and Couldwell talk to Dr Golly about the fallout from this extreme illness and how they managed in the latest episode of Dr Golly and The Experts.
