The NRL bunker seems to perpetually in the news, with several obstruction decisions leaving both fans, players and coaches scratching their heads.
Ryan Girdler feels the system needs a overhaul, starting with the officials in the box.
“We need to get the right people in those situations that have got the experience that can use their discretion to make the calls.” said Girdler.
“There’s this whole black and white thing, it just doesn’t work.”
“We need to simplify it, get the right person in there that’s happy to be accountable for those calls, apply common sense and discretion and just get on with it.”
