Woman in custody after boys found dead in Coonabarabran home

A woman remains under police guard in the hospital this morning after the bodies of two young boys were found in a home in Coonabarabran, New South Wales.

Police were called to a property on Emu Lane, Coonabarabran, on Monday afternoon after a welfare concern report was made.

On arrival, officers located the bodies of a six-year-old boy and a seven-year-old boy. A 66-year-old woman known to the pair was arrested and taken to the hospital for assessment. 

A crime scene has been established. Police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community and they were not looking to speak with anyone else.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said, “I can not begin to imagine the heartbreak their loved ones are currently feeling.”

“What has occurred is terrible and, as a state, we share in the community of Coonabarabran ‘s grief at the loss of two young boys who had their entire futures ahead of them,” Minns said.
