The chase began just prior to 10am on Thursday when police became aware of the vehicle driving at high speeds in Sydney’s south-west.
It drove on the M5 and M7 motorways – with NSW Police making the decision to call off the pursuit in the interest of public safety.
Footage from a Nine News helicopter shows the vehicle speeding through multiple intersections. The female passenger was seen with her feet up on the dashboard, and using her mobile phone.
Several plain-clothed and uniformed officers swarmed the car when it crashed, placing the male and female in handcuffs before arresting them and taking them into custody.
