Victoria Revealed As The Worst State For Violent Retail Crimes

Research reveals Victoria has the highest rate of violent crimes against retail workers across Australia.

Last year the state recorded almost 19,000 ‘serious’ retail crimes, compared to 12,700 in New South Wales.

Retail workers have been calling for greater punishments for those who assault employees.

The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) and the National Retail Association (NRA) are joining forces to call for major changes to improve the safety of retail staff and business owners.

ARA CEO Paul Zahra said retail crime has devastating impacts on business and their teams.

“It’s an issue that is multifaceted – with increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks, organised crime rings targeting retail stores, and violent confrontations,” Zahra said.
