Two Men And Teenage Boy Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Crashes In Mackay

Police have apprehended and charged two men and a teenage boy after they allegedly stole a 2019 Nissan Navara.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, April 21, when the vehicle was reported stolen from an address on Fitzroy Court, Mount Pleasant.

The situation escalated the following day when the stolen vehicle crashed on Oak Street in Andergrove.

Following the crash, three males reportedly fled the scene on foot. Police swiftly responded to the incident, locating three offenders nearby.

According to authorities, a 22-year-old man from Beaconsfield was among those arrested.

The man, whose name has not been disclosed, has been charged with an array of offences totalling 14 charges.

These include three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count of serious assault on a police officer, assault on a police officer, entering premises and committing, and stealing.

During the arrest, it is alleged that the 22-year-old resisted arrest and purportedly kicked one officer and headbutted another officer.

He is scheduled to appear before the Mackay Magistrates Court on April 23.

In a separate arrest, a 17-year-old boy from Andergrove was also taken into custody.

The teenager has been charged with 12 offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of entering premises and committing an indictable offence, driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, and obstructing a police officer.

Authorities have alleged that the teenage boy was involved in several property offences across Shoal Point, Beaconsfield, and Bowen over the past month.

He is set to appear before the Mackay Children’s Court on April 23.
