The identity of the officer has not been disclosed at this time.

In a statement, SAPOL assured that support would be provided to all police personnel affected by this devastating incident.

Police Minister Joe Szakacs said: “It’s important that we understand, and her colleagues understand, the circumstances of this tragic passing.”

“The grief will be wide-ranging and my thoughts at the moment are with all of those people who will be missing this police officer and mourning her tragic loss,” he said.

Minister Szakacs acknowledged the significant impact on the police family and highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by officers in their line of duty.

“Her colleagues, her friends, her loved ones will feel this loss incredibly deeply. The grief will be wide-ranging, and my thoughts at the moment are with all of those people who will be missing this police officer and mourning her tragic loss,” he added.

This incident follows a series of tragic losses within the police force over the past few months.

Minister Szakacs emphasised the availability of immediate support for those affected, urging individuals to reach out if needed.

“We’ve had some tragic losses in our police family over the last few months — this is yet another one. There’s support available, immediate support available, and additional support has been made available for all of her colleagues.”

The investigation into the officer’s death will continue as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
