Tragedy Strikes As Firefighter Loses Life Battling Blaze At Airbnb Property Near Sydney

A firefighter lost his life while responding to a house fire at an Airbnb property on Grose Vale Road, Grose Vale, early this morning.

The incident took place north-west of Sydney, with emergency services rushing to the house engulfed in flames just before 8am.

The 51-year-old firefighter was among the first responders to arrive but tragically collapsed during the operation.

Despite the immediate efforts of fellow firefighters who performed CPR until paramedics arrived, the firefighter could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another firefighter involved in the operation was taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries remains undisclosed.

The Airbnb property, listed as a holiday home with a capacity for 16 guests, was at the centre of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and authorities have established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Premier Chris Minns expressed his condolences for the fallen firefighter’s loved ones.

“To take on a job like this takes true bravery, and it’s a debt that we can’t ever begin to repay,” Mr Minns said.

 “No family should ever have to hear this news, and my thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
