Three Teenagers Charged In Stabbing Of 39-Year-Old Woman

Three teenagers have been charged following a shocking incident in which a 39-year-old woman was stabbed in the torso in the Illawarra region this Wednesday.

Emergency services responded to reports of a brawl at an address on Wegit Way in Warrawong, near Port Kembla, around 6:3pm.

According to New South Wales Police, they discovered the body with stab wounds to the torso. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 39-year-old at the scene, and she was rushed to Wollongong Hospital in critical condition.

NSW Police established a crime scene and initiated an investigation into the violent assault. The incident has left the community in shock, prompting authorities to take swift action.

Three teenage girls, aged 13, 14, and 15, were apprehended on Northcliffe Drive shortly after the incident. 

During the arrests, officers confiscated several items, including knives, which will undergo forensic examination as part of the investigation.

The trio was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where the 14 and 15-year-olds were charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, knife possession, and affray. The 13-year-old faces charges of affray. 

The teenagers were denied bail and are scheduled to appear before a children’s court on Thursday. 

Meanwhile, investigations continue, with detectives suspecting that additional individuals may have been present during the disturbing incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
