A 10-bedroom home has been destroyed by fire after being struck by lightning in north-west Sydney.
It took eleven fire trucks and over 70 firefighters to extinguish the blaze which broke out at a family home on Cattai Ridge Road in Glenorie.
The fire erupted at around 7:30PM on Wednesday evening before fire rescue crews arrived to find the home completely engulfed in flames.
The seven people who were living at the home escaped the blaze without injury.
Firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire inside the home due to the roof of the building collapsing.
It took several hours before the firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.
The family have claimed that the fire began after the home was struck by lightning during a storm.
