Qantas Investigates Privacy Breach On Mobile App

Qantas has launched an investigation following reports that customers accessing its app can view personal information belonging to other passengers.

In a statement issued earlier today, a spokesperson for Qantas acknowledged the reports.

“We’re urgently working to resolve the issue impacting the Qantas app this morning,” the carrier said on its website.

“We’re investigating whether this issue may have been caused by recent system change.”

The airline assured customers it would provide further updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

However, the company did not provide further information about the issue in its statement.

The leaked information reportedly includes details from passengers’ home screen dashboards, such as frequent flyer points, status, and scheduled flights.

Qantas later issued a second statement, apologising to affected customers and affirming that the matter is being addressed urgently.

“We sincerely apologise to our customers,” the statement read. “We’re investigating whether this issue may have been caused by recent system changes.”

The airline advised customers to log out and log back into their Qantas Frequent Flyer accounts on the app and also cautioned against social media scams during this time.
