A social media post by Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, expressed the family’s excitement about the newborn.

“We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her,” he said.

“Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.”

The baby’s middle name, Elizabeth, is thought to be a tribute to Beatrice’s beloved late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The royal statement also revealed that Athena weighed four pounds and five ounces at birth.

The King, Queen, and other members of the royal family have been informed and are said to be delighted with the news.

With Athena’s arrival, she is now 11th in line to the throne.
