Police Recover Nearly 250kg Of Cocaine On QLD Boat

Police have recovered close to 250kg of cocaine worth approximately $61 million from a yacht in Townsville. 

Two men are set to face a Brisbane court on Monday after Police seized a large quantity of cocaine from a yacht which was moored in Townsville. 

Police and the Australian Border Force located 247kg of cocaine inside the boat’s hull.

Police arrested two men aged 55 and 44 at an apartment last week before they were extradited to Brisbane to face court.

Nearly $300,000 in cash was also seized after it was allegedly thrown off the balcony as the men were being arrested. 

The yacht is believed to have sailed to Australia from Vanuatu with the two men allegedly travelling from Canberra to Townsville to retrieve the drugs. 

Investigations into the drug seizure are ongoing.
