Police probe attack on Trumpet of Patriots volunteer at pre-poll booth

Victoria police are investigating a man who was caught on video punching and kicking a Trumpet of Patriots volunteer at a pre-polling centre in Melbourne’s southeast.  

It is unclear whether the man was speaking about the Trumpet of Patriots’ policies or spam text messages.

Police say the exact circumstances of the incident are being investigated. A vehicle was damaged but no one required medical treatment.

Some including the smearing feces across a truck with a Liberal party ad on it. There were also threats of arson on campaign offices and fighting over campaign signs.

On Tuesday an 18-year-old was charged after Peter Dutton’s Brisbane electorate office was covered in red paint and posters.

The woman is expected to face court later this month.
