At least 51 people have died including a child after a Russian missile hit a café and grocery store in Kharkiv on Thursday.
Ukraine Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko has said that 51 people have been confirmed dead in the missile attack which hit the building in the village of Hroza.
The missile hit at around 1:15PM local time when the café and grocery store was filled with at least 60 people including a 6-year-old boy.
The boy also passed away in the attack.
The people inside the café were believed to have been attending a wake at the time of the attack.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy labelled the incident as a “demonstrably brutal Russian crime” and a “terrorist attack”.
“My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones! Help is being provided to the wounded,” Zelenskyy stated via his Telegram account.
“Russian terror must be stopped. Anyone who helps Russia circumvent sanctions is a criminal.”
The village that was attacked is believed to have housed only 500 people.
The attack came as Zelenskyy participated in a summit in Spain where he is working to gain supporters for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would “respond to the terrorists”.
