One dead, two hospitalised, after drinking a suspected “mushroom” drink at health retreat near Ballarat

A woman has died, and two others have been hospitalised after drinking what’s reported to be a “mushroom” drink at a health retreat.

Victoria Poice is investigating the death of a 53-year-old Ringwood woman, who became unwell and died shortly after on Saturday afternoon. Two others were taken to the hospital for observation.

The death occurred at an “alternative and holistic health service” business in Clunes, 33 kilometres north of Ballarat.

An ambulance was called to the retreat after a woman experienced a cardiac arrest.

Police said investigations remain ongoing and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
