NSW School Students Rejoice As ATAR And HSC Results Unveiled

The wait is over for thousands of New South Wales school students as their ATAR and HSC results are released today.

Students were sent their HSC results by 6 am today via SMS and online portal. The ATAR results were released at 9am.

Families, students and teachers gathered in Western Sydney yesterday as 128 students from 89 schools were awarded for achieving first or equal first place in a 2023 HSC course.

A total of 136 awards will be presented to 128 students across various sectors. Notably, six students excelled in more than one course, and 28 shared the honour of equal first place.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car, said: “Reaching a First In Course mark is a fantastic achievement, and I hope all our students can take time to celebrate their work over the summer break.”

Among all the courses, English and Mathematics have particularly shone, with five students topping the state in English, and 18 securing first place in Mathematics, including 12 students who jointly achieved the highest marks in Mathematics Standard 2.

Creative Arts courses, such as Music, Drama, Visual Arts, or Dance, witnessed six students leading the state.

Meanwhile, 10 students attained top results in science courses spanning biology, chemistry, physics, earth and environmental science, and science extension.

Minister for Skills, TAFE, and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan, said: “Celebrating these talented students reinforces Labor’s commitment to rebuilding our VET system to ensure it can deliver the skilled workforce we need for a prosperous future.”

“I would encourage all students embarking on their post-school journey to explore the wealth of options available, including apprenticeships, traineeships and TAFE.”
