Webjet has confirmed customers are paying more for flights between Melbourne and Sydney since the collapse of Rex and Bonza.
The Sydney to Melbourne route is one of the busiest in the world. The cost of flights has now jumped by 42 per cent according to Webjet.

The average price of a return ticket currently sitting at $550, compared to $385 when Rex was offering services on the route.
While the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics says the cheapest available flight between the two cities increased by 47 per cent at the end of 2024.
It’s not just Sydney to Melbourne either.
The average Sydney-Brisbane airfare is now 67.9 per cent more expensive than it was in October. But the Melbourne to Brisbane route has remained steady.
However, the average price per passenger overall for domestic flights has fallen almost 20 per cent over the past two months.
