Despite immediate medical attention, the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

He later died at the hospital, marking the first recorded fatality from a snake bite in Australia this year.

The eastern brown snake, notorious for its potent venom, has claimed lives in previous encounters.

Earlier in January, a woman in her 20s fell victim to an eastern brown snake bite while sleeping on her rural property in south Queensland.

Last year, two individuals lost their lives to suspected eastern brown snake bites.

In January, a father-of-two in his 60s passed away in Kensington Grove, Queensland, while a 25-year-old French backpacker tragically died after being bitten at a grain harvest depot in Nullawil, Victoria, in October.

Eastern brown snakes, prevalent across eastern Australia including the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory, pose a significant threat due to their potent venom.

It ranks among the deadliest snakes globally and has the second most toxic venom.
