A woman is in hospital after being pushed by a stranger into the tracks at Melbourne’s Richmond station on Wednesday afternoon.
According to witnesses, including Sky News reporter Simon Love who was present at the scene, the assailant fled immediately after the attack.

“A lady was just pushed onto the train tracks at Richmond station by someone who then ran off,” Mr Love reported on social media.
“Good Samaritans then got onto the tracks, lifted her up before she received medical attention, and (Metro Trains staff were) on scene.”
Ambulance Victoria confirmed the woman was transported to Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
Despite the traumatic event, Metro Trains operations remained uninterrupted, and services continued without delay.
Following an intensive investigation, a 54-year-old man from Werribee was apprehended in Southbank on Thursday morning.
Police have indicated that the suspect is currently assisting with inquiries.
The motive behind the alleged attack remains unclear, though authorities have confirmed that the victim and the assailant were not known to each other.
