A 24-year-old Hope Island man has been charged over the alleged assault of a Gold Coast Father in Sanctuary Cove on May 27.
Police will allege that 39-year-old Michael Hayes was coward punched at Sanctuary Cove at around 9:20PM on Saturday outside of the Destino Wine and Cocktail Bar.
Emergency services were called to the scene where they found the man suffering from severe head injuries.
The man alleged to have thrown the punch fled the scene on foot.
The 39-year-old victim passed away in Gold Coast University Hospital on June 1.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Thursday afternoon at a Maroochydore home.
The man has since been charged with unlawful striking causing death and is set to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
