The quake’s epicentre was about 203km north of Mataram Indonesia, and so far, as not resulted in any reports of damage or casualties.

Reports on social media from residents say they did feel tremors from the quake.

The Briefing’s co-host Antoinette Lattouf is currently travelling in Bali, and said she and all the hotel guests were woken to the tremors.

“Just after 4am, we woke up to the room, the shower, the windows was shaking quite viciously,” Ms Lattouf said.

“We knew something wasn’t right and it went for what felt like a good few minutes.”

The Bureau of Meteorology has reported there is currently no tsunami threat to Australia.

The quake’s depth so below the seabed also indicates there are no tsunami threats to Indonesia also.
