On April 3, Queensland Police located Spies’ white 2017 Toyota HiLux on a property off Yuleba-Surat Road in Noorindoo, approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Surat.

The vehicle was locked, and authorities found personal belongings inside the car, including a pink shirt similar to the one which Spies was last seen wearing.

The following day, human remains were discovered about one kilometre from the vehicle.

Forensic testing later confirmed that the remains belonged to Spies.

“Tayla was and always will be so incredibly loved, more than she would ever know,” Spies’ sister, Rebecca, posted on social media.

“Please bear with us as we grieve and navigate through this excruciating loss as a family,” she said.

“Fly high and rest easy now our beautiful girl.”

Queensland Police have stated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death

Forensic analysis of both the remains and the vehicle is underway.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding Spies’ movements or sightings of her vehicle prior to her disappearance.
