Environment Minister To Visit K’gari Following Dingo Attack

Environment Minister Leanne Linard is set to visit K’gari on Wednesday to assess high-risk dingo areas with rangers.

The visit follows an attack on Brisbane woman Sarah Peet while she was jogging along Orchid Beach on Monday.

Four dingoes are believed to have attacked Ms Peet leaving her with around 30 bite injuries.

Stay up-to-date on the latest news with The QLD Briefing – keeping you in the loop with the region’s breaking news as it hits.

One of the four dingoes has previously been marked as “high-risk” and has been fitted with a GPS tracking collar following a number of aggressive incidents involving fishers and campers.

Authorities are yet to make a decision as to the fate of the dingo, but it could mean the male pack leader is euthanised before the weekend.

An official response is being finalised by Queensland Parks and Wildlife in relation to the attack with euthanisation a strong possibility.

Ms Peet is still recovering from her injuries which included a deep laceration to her upper arm.
