A man has been shot on the doorstep of his home after answering a knock at his door in inner Melbourne on Thursday evening.
The 76-year-old man was answering a knock at the door of his Canterbury Road home in Middle Park when he was shot at 7:50PM yesterday.
A 72-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman were both home when the shooting occurred but were uninjured.
Emergency services were called to the scene before transporting the man to hospital.
He suffered a gunshot wound to his lower body and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooter is believed to have fled the scene on foot towards Albert Park Lake.
