Regional Victorians are being reminded of significant train delays expected on V/Line services Thursday morning when workers walk off the job.
Industrial action will take place from 3am to 7am on Thursday morning, as Rail, Tram and Bus Union members fight for better pay and conditions.
Significant delays are expected across the entire network, with passengers being advised seek alternative ways to get to work, or consider working from home.
Speaking to media on Wednesday, V/Line chief executive Matt Carrick said the service is trying to limit the disruptions made to passengers.
“We share the frustration of regional Victorians about this totally unnecessary strike taking place,” he said.
“We’ll continue to negotiate in good faith to try to get an acceptable outcome, which means that there is an agreement that is fair, that is reasonable and that’s affordable.”
A limited number of coaches will run from 8am, however will run direct to Southern Cross Station, missing all metropolitan stations.
Delays of up to two hours are expected.
Metropolitan, freight and the Sydney-Melbourne XPT trains will operate as usual
