Hundreds of people gathered at Emmanuel College Gold Coast on Friday morning to pay tribute to Sophie Wang.
The 10-year-old girl’s body was discovered by her father, Dr Yun Wang, at their home in Emerald Lakes, a residential area in the Carrara suburb, on Tuesday.

Her mother, 46-year-old Yingying Xu, was arrested shortly after and charged with murder.
A shrine was created with flowers along a sandstone wall adorned with a metal cross. Students wrote tributes in bright markers, expressing their sorrow and love for their friend.
“Fly high, sweet angel. We miss you, but God will take care of you,” read one message. “You will never be forgotten. Shine bright, brighter than the stars.”
Principal Dan Brown expressed his gratitude for the “overwhelming” support from the community during this difficult time. He described Sophie as a “bright, intelligent, and compassionate” girl who was beloved by her peers and teachers.
Meanwhile, Queensland Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sophie’s death. Ms Xu did not appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday when her charges were addressed, and she was formally remanded. Reports suggest that Xu may face the Mental Health Court due to concerns about her fitness for trial. Police are also examining strange TikTok videos posted by Xu before the incident, hoping to understand her mental state at the time.
