Brendan Fevola has shared an emotional tribute to Troy Selwood following the former Brisbane Lions star’s sudden death.
Speaking on his breakfast show, Fifi, Fev and Nick, Fevola held back tears as he shared his memories of Selwood.

“I was going through a bit of a tough time when I was up in Brisbane and he was the bloke that was there for me, which meant a lot to me and it’s just a real shock,” Fevola said.
“You’ll hear stories about him, no one will say a bad word about him. He was just one of the real good ones. It’s just sad.
“He’s got two young kids. It’s just really upsetting and shattering that you just think, ‘what could you have done’, but you can’t do anything. It’s so hard.”
Selwood’s family shared the news of his death on Tuesday. He was aged 40.
“We are heart broken by the loss of our son, brother and father, Troy this morning. We will miss Troy more than words can express,” the family said in a statment shared via the AFL.
“Troy was a much loved and loving member of our family. Over the course of his life, Troy bought joy and light to all who knew him.
“We will miss Troy’s bravery, his humour, his deep thinking, his love and compassion.
Selwood played 75 games for the Brisbane Lions between 2005 and 2010 and is the brother of Joel, Scott and Adam who all played football.
In his post-playing career, Selwood worked in off-field roles at Geelong for over a decade, including being a member of the Cats’ recruiting team.
He spent a short time working in a dual list manager and recutuing role at Collingwood in 2021 bvefore moving to Geelong Grammar to oversee the sports program at the school.
