Australians To Benefit From Government Support Payments Boost

Australians receiving government support payments will have their benefits increased in the next few weeks.

From September 20, several payment types will increase as part of twice-yearly indexation of welfare payments to align with rising cost-of-living.

Payment base-rates will increase by $40 a fortnight, while different types of payments will receive additional dollars as part of regular indexation.

Single Australians on JobSeeker who do not have any children will receive $749 a fortnight, up from $693, while older Australians on the support with receive $802.50 a fortnight.

ABSTUDY Living Allowance, Disability Support Pension (Youth), Parenting Payment (Partnered), the Special Benefit and Youth Allowance recipients will receive an additional $40 a fortnight.

Single parents with children eight-years-old and above will be eligible for the higher Parenting Payment Single rate, adding a further $177 a fortnight to payments until their youngest child turns 14.

Payments will be automatically updated, with no action needed by recipients.
