PM Albanese’s Message For Australians Following Bondi Junction Tragedy

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke to Triple M this morning after Saturday’s horrific attack at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney, with the message “In times like these Australians will stick together.”

Appearing on Triple M Sydney 104.9’s Mick & MG In The Morning, PM Albanese told Mick Molloy, Mark Geyer and Natarsha Belling that “Today’s the day where people will hug their loved ones a little tighter. We’re a society that sticks together. In times like this Australians will stick together.”

The Prime Minister also named the sixth victim of the attack as Yixuan Cheng, a Chinese student of The University of Sydney.

The other five victims had been previously named as Ashlee Good, Dawn Singleton, Jade Young, Pikria Darchia, and Faraz Tahir, who was on his first day working as a security guard at the centre.

The six were killed in a lone stabbing spree by attacker Joel Cauchi, who was shot dead at the scene. The attacked acted “without ideology” according to New South Wales Police.

At least a dozen more people were taken to hospital to be treated for wounds from the attacker’s knife, while many more suffered minor injuries.

Three people, a woman and man and a nine-month-old baby girl remain in critical condition.

The attack has shocked Sydney and everyone at Triple M expresses our deep grief and despair for everyone affected, especially the families of the victims.
