ACCC Fines Oodie For Missing Fire Warnings

The Australian Consumer Commission has handed Oodie a $110,280 fine for failing to comply with safety standards.

The popular loungewear brand, owned by Davie Clothing Pty Ltd, has been issued with six infringement notices for failing to include high fire danger warning labels.

The labels were missing on six different styles of the Kids Beach Oodie. The ACCC became involved after a consumer submitted a complaint.

From 29 September 2022 to 14 July 2023, over 2400 affected garments were sold on Oodie’s website in Australia.

The ACCC Deputy Chair Catriona Lowe said “This serves as an important reminder to suppliers of kids clothing.”

“Fire hazard warning labels are crucial to alert consumers to the high fire danger of products and to help keep children safe,” Lowe said.
