A $1 million reward has been announced for information relating to the murder of Prabha Arun Kumar in Parramatta almost ten years ago.

On March 7, 2015, at around 9.330pm, the 41-year-old was walking home on Amos Street, Westmead, after catching a train to Parramatta Railway Station on her way home from work in Rhodes.

While talking on the phone with her husband on Jubilee Lane in Parramatta Park, Kumar was stabbed by an unknown person.

Emergency services attended the scene; however, Kumar died from her injuries.

Multiple inquiries have been pursued, and several public appeals for information have been made; however, the case remains unsolved.

The NSW Government and Police have announced the $1 million reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Prabha’s murder.

NSW Police and counter-terrorism minister, the Honourable Yasmin Catley MP, hoped the reward would encourage anyone with information to come forward.

“Police will not stop looking for answers until Prabha’s killer is brought to justice,” she said.

“Prabha’s family deserve closure – someone out there knows something and there is now one million more reasons to get in contact with police.”

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said he wanted the community to know police would continue the search for Kurma’s murderer and bring justice to her family.

“Prabha was a wife and mother who spent her time caring for her family and contributing to her community, and in 2014, she was murdered in cold blood,” he said.

“This reward is about bringing justice for Prabha’s family and community, and it’s about finding answers and putting her killer before the courts so they can answer for this crime.”

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
