Do you know what your triggers are as a parent? You know, the thing your kid does that makes you see red. It might be that they don’t pick up their clothes from the floor, or that they flood the bathroom after a shower.
These things are annoying, but if they fill you with instant rage you may be dealing with a trigger.
Psychologist Dr Rebecca Ray describes a trigger as “an external piece of stimuli in the environment that creates a distressing response for you. It’s something that usually relates to a memory that is unpleasant.”
