Tonight a vote will take place that will result in the future of a much needed women’s shelter in Perth. Kymba and Pete spoke with Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zemplias who says he has changed his mind on plans to relocate the shelter to a new Northbridge site, despite previously continually opposing the new location.
The Safe Night Space, which had provided shelter for 30 vulnerable women during it’s trial period of just over two years, was shut down nearly three months ago after a resolution couldn’t be found between the City of Perth and state government when it came to a long term solution.
When Basil joined the show, Kymba had some truths to share with him.

“This should not be mistaken as passion, this is a disgrace. I’m furious. These women are in such danger and nobody is doing anything about it. The Council and the state Government should be getting together for something that’s needed…” Kymba responded to Zempilas after he commented that he appreciated her ‘passion’.
