We’ve been celebrating National Science Week these last few days and during the week, we spoke with “Bry the fly guy”, who revealed a curious little tidbit about how flies helped shape and influence the Aussie accent.
Basically, our ancestors had to learn to speak without opening their mouths.
“Apparently that helped shape how Australian English is spoken, so the flies don’t land in our mouths when we talk.”
Bloody bonza mate!
In the podcast, Bry also confirms that if it wasn’t for flies, we wouldn’t have chocolate in our lives. Fair dinkum!
