Professional freediver William Trubridge joins Bec & Soda for a “deep dive” in underwater breathing in this episode of What’s It Like To!
Considered as one of the most dangerous sports in the world, Will shares his almost fatal experiences in free-diving on SAFM.
Listen here:
“There’s a lot to [freediving], people think of it as a tolerance of low oxygen but in fact what is more difficult is tolerance of high carbon dioxide.” Will said.
William Trubridge has broken numerous world records including having free dived unaided on a single breath to a depth of 102 meters (334 feet).
Rebecca ‘Bec’ Morse and Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom learn about the methods of underwater breathing, similar to the actors Avatar: The Way Of The Water learned during filming.
This method has even allowed humans to hold their breath for up to 24 mins!
