Carrie Bickmore bravely opened up on her battle with anxiety that she’s been struggling with over her 20-year career in media, and less than 24 hours later, was overwhelmed with the response she received from listeners all across the country.
One day after the national Drive Show host brought to light the crippling effects anxiety has had over her life, she received a countless number of DMs from listeners who resonated with Carrie’s words, and who wanted to share their story in solidarity.

Today’s show opened with the first DM sent to Carrie Bickmore’s personal Instagram page, by an anonymous listener, detailing how he’s currently working in a public facing job, that requires him to speak to a large number of people. Within his message, he goes on to explain that he’s considered quitting his job due to the anxiety leaving him questioning why he constantly puts himself through this:
Another beautiful message came from an individual sharing that they’re set to be married in the next few months, but anxiety is preventing them from feeling safe enough to stand up and deliver a speech. After hearing Carrie’s emotional confession, he went on to write:
“Thanks for sharing – my own struggle with anxiety feels lighter now after hearing that. I was dreading it far more than people understand”
Shortly after the two hosts shared the emotional messages sent through, they also introduced their good friend Dave Hughes, who was unaware of his former newsreader’s anxiety. He went on to share his own experience, detailing how his ego has him “trying to protect some bulls*** image” that he has of himself:
