The Nevada Desert at Burning Man has descended into mud and torrential rain, testing 10,000 festival-goers’ radical self-sufficiency…but that hasn’t discouraged anyone!
Bianca, Ben & Lakey speak to Director of Firefly Heath Williamson, who can exclusively confirm that at 2100 tonight, the Burning Man effigy is set to be lit!
The pinnacle of the week long festival is the ritualistic burning of the effigy, which had been postponed for days due to the torrential rain and storms.
“I’ve just been in with the law enforcement, the fire department,” Heath said.
“It’s exclusive for SeaFM, they’re burning it at 2100 tonight!”
Heath also explains he’s spotted big names like Elon Musk, Paris Hilton and friend Jai Courteny.
Since Friday night, people have been trapped naked amongst the mud and rain with the desert dust turning to concrete-like quiksand.
“You can’t walk on it, you can’t cycle on it, you can’t drive on it,” Heath said.
Heath, who has been awake for about 36 hours, assures that despite the graphic scenes, Burning Man does ‘restore your faith in humanity’.
“There’s plenty of food and everyone’s sharing,” he said.
